How to Paint a Dining Room Set Green

You do not have to redecorate an entire room to have a new look. Changing furniture will make a big difference in the overall design. Transform furniture by painting it a bold color to give the room a new look. Select large pieces of furniture such as a dining room set for a more dramatic change. A bright color like green will make a big statement and give the room an urban, modern feeling. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Prepare the area for painting by laying down drop cloths and newspapers to protect the floor.

    2

Use a coarse sandpaper to sand the dining room tables and chairs. Remove any existing paint or stain. Wipe down the furniture with a damp rag after sanding. Let dry.

    3

Paint primer onto the dining set in the direction of the wood grain. Make sure excess paint does not pool or drip from the furniture.

    4

Let the paint dry for 48 hours to a week before painting with the colored paint. If there are any areas where the paint has pooled or dried paint drips, sand those areas down.

    5

Brush the green paint onto all the furniture, painting in the direction of the wood grain. Let dry for 48 hours. Use a fine grade sandpaper to sand away any brush strokes. Wipe down the furniture with a damp cloth. Repeat for second coat of paint.

    6

Use a small paint brush to touch up any areas of the furniture that are missing paint such as joints in the furniture.
