How to Buy a Conference Table

How to Buy a Conference Table

A conference table speaks to the professionalism of a business. Deals are made or broken at a conference table. If you're looking to buy a conference table, you have to make sure you buy one that properly reflects your business's attitudes and image. Here are a few things to keep in mind when you go out to buy a conference table for your business.

Instructions

    1

Measure the room in which the conference table will reside. Knowing how much table you can buy is key. Buying a conference table that is too large for the room speaks volumes to your clients and customers. Remember it's more than just the table that will be sitting in the conference room. There will be chairs that will have to move in and out from underneath the table. Ensure that you have ample room so that your clients can sit comfortably.

    2

Match the furniture in the room. Depending on your business, image is key. You should have your conference table match the existing furniture in the room. Or, if you are in the process of upgrading, be sure to buy a table that will reflect the image you wish to portray.

    3

Determine the number of people that will be sitting at the table. If your conferences generally have no more than six people, then a table that will fit between six and eight people will be satisfactory. However, if your meetings tend to have 15 or 20 people, buy a conference table that will accommodate everyone and fit comfortably in the room.

    4

Never choose a table that isn't proportional to the chairs in the room. Sitting at a table that towers above the employees brings up memories of childhood, causing people to feel submissive.

    5

Decide what shape you want the table to be. If you want everyone to feel as though they are on the same level, a circular table is best. However, if you want to establish a hierarchy within a room, then a rectangular allows for a boss to sit at the head and his minions to file down the sides.
