How to Make a Conference Table

Make your own custom conference table with these easy to follow instructions. This bamboo table measures 4-feet-wide-by-8-feet-long and stands 29 -inches-high. Adjust the measurements as needed to make a conference table to fit your room. Bamboo is an eco-friendly building product and creates beautiful wood furniture. You can use any furniture grade plywood to make your custom conference table. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Lay the 4-foot-by-8-foot-by-3/4-inch furniture grade bamboo plywood face down on a flat elevated surface like a work table.

    2

Run a bead of wood glue along one of the 4-foot edges and clamp a 4-foot piece of bamboo trim so that it fits flush with all of the edges. Hammer finishing nails every 6-inches along the trim to hold it securely. Remove the clamps and repeat this process until all four sides of the conference table are trimmed.

    3

Cut the 4-foot-by-6-foot-by-3/4-inch furniture grade bamboo plywood into two sections measuring 3-feet-wide and 29-inches long. Lay both pieces flat on a work table and attach bamboo trim to each of the 29-inch edges on both pieces. Follow the same procedure as described in Step 2.

    4

Attach one "L" bracket onto the 3-foot-edge of one of the panels you cut in Step 3, 6-inches from the end. Drill pilot holes before you insert the screws. Flip the panel over and attach another "L" bracket 6-inches from the opposite end of the panel. Repeat this step on the second 3-foot-by-29-inch-long panel.

    5

Place the conference table face down on a flat work surface. Attach the 3-foot-by-29-inch panels one foot from either end of the table. Center the panels from the sides, attaching them to the table top with the "L" brackets you installed in Step 4.

    6

Lay the two 6-foot-long wood strips between the two table bases, one at each edge. Attach the strips to the table top with wood screws. These strips will help brace your conference table.

    7

Sand the table and finish it with several coats of clear polyurethane for protection and shine. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for sanding and dry time.
