How to Repaint Cane Bedside Tables

Cane furniture is made out of the bark of the rattan palm. You can weave cane to create wicker style furniture or lash it together using dried leaves. Cane furniture, such as bed stands, has many nooks and crannies that you must thoroughly clean before repainting. After it is clean, remove any flaking paint gently and allow the piece to dry. Be careful of any rough scrubbing, it may damage the cane. Use an oil-based aerosol paint to reach all parts of the furniture. Does this Spark an idea?

    Vacuum the cane bedstand thoroughly with a soft bristle attachment.

    Scrub off old flaking paint gently using a metal bristle brush and liquid paint stripper. Be careful not to damage the wood.

    Wash the bedstand with a light detergent and sponge. Allow the piece to dry completely.

    Paint the cane with aerosol primer.

    5

    Paint the bedstand with aerosol paint.
