How do I Fix a Chip in a Boka Table Lamp?

How do I Fix a Chip in a Boka Table Lamp?

Boka table lamps are simple ceramic lamps based on a mid-century design. Because the base is made of ceramic, it is not uncommon to have an accident occur and end up with a chipped lamp. Rather than disposing of the lamp or simply living with an unsightly chip, you can repair the area so that it is hardly noticeable. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Purchase enamel paint in a color that closely matches the color of your boka table lamp. It is helpful to go to a craft store with the chip from the lamp so you can compare the colors.

    2

Using the white PVA glue, glue the chip back in place as best you can. It's OK if you are missing pieces; glue whatever you have left back into position on the lamp. Allow the glue to dry overnight.

    3

Use the polymer clay to fill in any gaps and smooth the surface around the chip. Work with small amounts, and build up until you've smoothed the surface to look as natural as possible. Allow to dry overnight.

    4

Use the nail file to file down any rough edges from the polymer clay. Be careful not to scratch the existing paint of your boka table lamp.

    5

Paint a layer of the enamel paint over the repaired chip, blending it in with the existing paint of the lamp. This might take several layers, or it could take just one. If the color is too light, apply another layer of paint. Allow the paint to dry.
