How do I Make a Table Lamp Out of Cedar Posts?

Lamp posts can be created out of virtually any material. Natural materials are continually being used for many years as inclusions for interior design concepts. With the constant emphasis on embracing nature, more and more individuals are turning to wood and stone to create furniture for the home. By using cedar posts to create a table lamp, you can bring nature into any space in your home. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Lay the 24-inch cedar post on a flat surface. Clamp the 24-inch cedar post to the surface with the large table clamp. Shake the post gently to ensure the post is secure.

    2

Attach the 12-inch drill bit to the drill. Drill into the end of the cedar post towards the center. Continue to drill in toward the center until there is a 3/4-inch opening.

    3

Drill through the opposite end of the 24-inch section until the entire center of the post is hollowed out.

    4

Drill a half circle through the bottom end of the 24-inch cedar post. This will create a pathway for the electric wire to exit the post center without obstructing the level of the lamp.

    5

Insert the lamp wire up through the bottom of the cedar post. Connect the metal lamp shade holder to the top end.

    6

Wrap rubber stripping around the wire immediately below the lamp shade holder. Wrap electrical tape around the rubber stripping. Cover the top inner edge of the cedar post with rubber cement.

    7

Pull the wire tightly through the bottom if the cedar post until the metal lampshade holder is standing. Line the string through the bottom drilled half circle.

    8

Apply wood glue around the bottom edge of the cedar post. Press the 1-inch thick cedar post that measures 8-inches wide on to the bottom edge of the cedar post. Set the lamp on a flat surface. Screw in a light bulb, attach the lamp shade and plug in the lamp.
