How to Mount a Monitor Table

How to Mount a Monitor Table

A monitor table is a deep shelf that serves as a surface for a computer monitor. Mounting a monitor table on the wall can create a home office without using the large amount of space required to place a computer desk in a room. Mounting a monitor table requires all the same materials and procedures used to mount a wall shelf. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Measure in 11 1/2 inches from each corner along the 24-inch edge of the plywood. This will create a 1-inch center mark. Mark in 1 inch from each 11 1/2 inch mark and connect the ends of each line to create a 1-by-1 inch square.

    2

Cut the 1-inch square section from the plywood with a jig saw. This will create a space for the monitor wires to pass through.

    3

Measure in 2 inches from each corner along the same 24 inch edge that contains the square cut out. Place one 12-inch shelf bracket at each location with the back edge facing the square cut out edge.

    4

Drive one 1/2-inch screw through each hole location in the bracket. Typically each bracket will contain four holes, but the total number may vary by style.

    5

Place the shelf along the wall approximately 36 inches from the floor. Place the level on top of shelf and tilt the shelf slightly until it is perfectly level. Draw in each screw location for the shelf to attach to the wall with a pencil and remove the shelf.

    6

Drill through each screw location as drawn on the wall using a 3/8-inch drill bit. Insert one wall anchor into each hole and tap it into the wall using a hammer.

    7

Place the shelf back on the wall, lining up the bracket holes with the holes on the wall. Drive one 2-inch screw through each hole to join them with the wall anchors.
