How to Make Miniature Lamps

How to Make Miniature Lamps

Miniature lamps make dollhouses and shadow boxes look more realistic. Most rooms in your dollhouse will need a lamp. A homemade miniature lamp is not difficult to make with items that most households already have available. This craft project is an excellent way to teach children about the importance of recycling and how to be creative. It only takes a few minutes to make these small, decorative accessories.

Instructions

Floor Lamp

    1

Paint the empty wooden thread spool with acrylic paint. Use a color that coordinates with your dollhouse room or other craft project. Allow the paint to dry.

    2

Cut a flexible straw so that it is 5 inches in length.

    3

Insert one end of the plastic straw into the hole in the base of the thread spool.

    4

Glue a liquid soap or soda bottle cap onto the other end of the straw for the lampshade.

Table Lamp

    5

Cut the pointed end of the crayon with a sharp knife so that it has a flat surface.

    6

Glue one of the crayon ends into the center of the prescription bottle lid. Allow it to dry.

    7

Place a couple of drops of glue onto the other flat end of the crayon. Set an upside down mouthwash or toothpaste cap onto the glue and allow it to dry. The cap acts as the lampshade.
